The Humanities and Social Sciences Strand is all about humans, politics, and governance, understanding all the happenings in society. Being a HUMSS student is critical thinking and always giving importance to people's emotions and behavior.

As a HUMSS student, my predicted future is to be a Psychologist. I take this strand because my course is aligned with this. Actually, my first choice course is Education, because when I was young, I am always teaching all the children who surround me just like my cousin and nephew. Now, in my last year as being senior high school student, I've realized that I want to change it and become a Psychologist because of what I observe in people in my surroundings. To better comprehend how people perceive, react, and feel, I want to understand human psychological processes and behavior.
HUMSS students are renowned for their capacity to comprehend individuals as if they were individuals for people. To better understand what individuals around you need or don't want, you must be able to communicate effectively with them. It's challenging to gain over everyone, so you must constantly evaluate everything you do so that you can notice it. You also need to be conscious of every gesture or movement made by the people you engage with.
No doubt; a HUMSS student is here to serve and lead people.
For my dreams to come true, to achieve them, I must have perseverance, determination, and enough strength and at the same time always choose to continue. To avoid adjustment Psychology is in the HUMSS Strand so I understand it better. Hoping and claiming that my future career is for me, for my dream of helping every person. Just to see that they are well, my dream has come true because I value differently when it comes the people.

Public speaking is one of my strengths as a HUMSS student, thus I can handle anything for the audience. It is unavoidable that I am self-denial, so I want to always be mindful of the feelings and behavior of those around me. I am always better at communicating, but at the same time, I always want to know whether I am offending someone, and whether am I right or wrong.
I can the ability to lead while also serving others; their demands are always pertinent or significant, and I take on the role of one of their figureheads. Since I am one of those who lead, I am also grateful for the fact that I set an example for every student. It is great that, as a HUMSS student, I have done and continue to do these things for everybody else.
Political psychology has a long and distinguished history at the University of Minnesota, where political scientists and psychologists began working together at the forefront of empirical social science studies.
The first political psychology class offered at the University was taught by psychology professor Charles Bird in the 1920s. His research focuses on the use of propaganda techniques in war, and on the development of racial prejudice within neighborhoods. In the 1940s, Bird joined Paul Meehl in abnormal psychology and Herbert McClosky (PhD '46 Ph.D.olitical science) in political psychology and personality. McClosky developed and taught courses on the psychological approach to political behavior until his departure for Berkeley in 1960.
When McClosky left Minnesota, He was replaced by William Flanigan, who built on the tradition of McClosky's behavior. In 1975, one of his former undergraduates, John Sullivan, joined the Department of Political Science. Sullivan developed graduate and undergraduate courses in political psychology and began extensive work on the conceptualization and etiology of political tolerance. A year later, the Department of Psychology hired Eugene Borgida, a social cognition scholar. Borgida and Sullivan worked together to train students in political psychology in both departments. The earliest PhDs who worked with the two of them included Stanley Feldman, Pamela Conover, and Michael Delli Carpini.

- The calling of the humanities is to make us truly human in the best sense of the word. J. Irwin Miller
- The first thing you get from the humanities, when they're well taught, is critical thinking. Philosophy in particular can play that role, not just in universities but in schools as well. Martha Nussbaum
Last but not least, I have self-confidence in whatever I do, which helps me grow as a person, inspire others, and become the best version of myself. If you plan to take HUMSS or are already enrolled in the HUMSS strand, always evaluate your goals, always be aware of your path, and keep in mind that we are always for people and that we are aware of what is happening in our society. Taking HUMSS is not a tongue-in-cheek comment; there is always a report, play, written, and everything because it is the performance that we emphasize. I personally take great satisfaction in the fact that I am a HUMANISTA, therefore keep dreaming and don't give up. PADAYON, HUMSS.
